YEAH! Young EARopean Award

Young EARopean Award 2011 – The application is possible in two different categories:

In the main category “Performance” the YEAH! Young EARopean Award 2011 honours imaginative and innovative theatrical and concert formats from all over Europe, which with creative contributions open the doors to “classical” music for their audiences.

Sought are professional stage productions for children and young people as well as for generation-spanning target groups. Eligible to apply are individual concerts and other concert and musical theater projects that were realized during the 2009–10 and 2010–11 seasons or the 2010 and 2011 festival seasons.

The YEAH! Young EARopean Award 2011 grants an additional “Process” sponsorship award to participatory projects for children and young people as well as mixed-age target groups. The focus of this prize is the process of the encounter with music, independent of concluding presentations or performances.

Musical outreach projects and programs associated with concerts and musical theater that were realized during the 2009–10 and 2010–11 seasons or the 2010 and 2011 festival seasons can apply for YEAH!_Process.

>> Required for the application for YEAH!_Process is a written recommendation from a respected personality, institution or organization from musical life, who/which is not involved in the project.

YEAH! is addressed to orchestras and ensembles, theatres and concert halls, composers, musicians, librettists, authors, pedagogues, and artists throughout Europe who/which work on a professional scale in the field of music education.

The application process involves two steps. Besides the application form, which is to be filled out online, four copies of a DVD with a live recording of the performance is to be submitted by post.

The application period ends on 1 June 2011. The date of the postmark is valid for material sent by post.

The YEAH! includes a monetary prize of 40.000 Euro.

The presentation of prizes is to take place on 19 November 2011 in Osnabruck within the framework of the week-long YEAH! Festival (14–20 November 2011).

YEAH! Young EARopean Award is a project of the Stiftung Stahlwerk Georgsmarienhütte (Georgsmarienhütte Steelworks Foundation) and the City of Osnabruck, and organized by the netzwerk junge ohren (network young ears).
